Feed per Egg Calculator
Feed per egg (g) = total feed (kg) × 1000 ÷ eggs collected. A well-managed layer flock typically uses 120–140 g of feed per egg; sustained values above ~150 g/egg usually mean a laying-percentage, wastage or health problem. Add your feed price to get feed cost per egg.
How the calculation works
Take the total production feed the flock consumed over a period, convert it to grams, and divide by the eggs collected in the same period. Use matching periods — a day, a week, a month — for feed and eggs, or the number is meaningless.
Why it matters
Feed is 65–75% of the production cost of an egg on most commercial layer farms, so grams-per-egg is the single most direct efficiency number a layer farm can watch. Track it per shed to catch underperforming flocks early.
