Broiler FCR Calculator
Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) = total feed consumed (kg) ÷ total live weight gain (kg). An FCR of 1.6 means the flock ate 1.6 kg of feed for every 1 kg of live weight it produced. Commercial broiler flocks typically land between 1.5 and 1.9 — lower is better.
How the calculation works
FCR divides everything the batch ate by everything it grew: FCR = feed (kg) ÷ weight gain (kg). Weight gain is total live weight at harvest minus the starting chick weight. Track feed batch-wise — mixing batches hides which shed or breed is underperforming.
What moves FCR
Feed quality and formulation, breed, harvest age (FCR worsens as birds get older), climate stress, disease and feed wastage.
